SEATTLE – November 1, 2018 – DomainTools, the leader in domain name and DNS-based cyber threat intelligence, today announced the kick-off of its Threat Intelligence Workshop series, with the first seminar taking place in New York City. Participants will learn practical tips and hear expert insights to improve threat intelligence best practices. The workshop will present real-world case studies, as well as an opportunity for hands-on practice for profiling adversary infrastructure. The first Threat Intelligence Workshop take place at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton in Times Square on Thursday, November 15 from 9:30am to 1:00pm ET.
In the recently released Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) 2018 Security Megatrends Analysis, threat intelligence and proactive initiatives were revealed as two important areas of focus for security programs in the coming year. The improvement of threat intelligence ranked high among respondents as a primary initiative driving current security priorities. With advanced security and threat analytics also identified as programs expected to be key in the next two years, many groups are moving away from a cybersecurity focus to a cyber risk management focus, further indicating an emphasis on strategic, proactive programs. Moreover, the study found that company executives outside of IT and security roles are increasingly interested in security operations, creating new opportunities for the security industry to educate them about the benefits and best practices of threat intelligence activities.
Tim Helming, director of product management at DomainTools, and Michael Schwartz, director of cybersecurity at Target Corp., will lead the workshop, sharing guidance for how security teams and researchers can turn threat data into proactive intelligence.
