DomainTools Named Prestigious “Value Leader” in EMA’s Inaugural Radar Report for Digital Threat Management

Seattle – February 8, 2018DomainTools, the leader in domain name and DNS-based cyber threat intelligence, today announced it has been positioned as a “Value Leader” by Enterprise Management Associations (EMA) in the first EMA Radar Report TM for Digital Threat Intelligence Management. In addition, the DomainTools Iris Threat Intelligence Platform was awarded the “Specialized Technology” badge for having the most detailed and farthest-reaching archive of DNS, domain, IP, and website information.

EMA Radar Reports deliver in-depth analysis of industry leading vendors and vendor products, including their overall market position in comparison with other vendors. Recognition as a “Value Leader” is the highest award level awarded by EMA, and the IT and data management research and consulting firm defines “value” as the ratio between the strength of a product set against its cost efficiency.

“With security at the forefront of every business leader’s mind, threat intelligence investigations have become a mainstay practice in many security operations centers,” said David Monahan, analyst at EMA and author of the Radar Report. “After our assessment, we discovered that DomainTools is exceptionally strong at what it does. For organizations that are focused on using current and historical domain information to augment their threat intelligence brand and personnel protection, this service has a significant value proposition.”

DomainTools was assessed against eight other digital threat management vendors on product strength and cost efficiency. According to the report, DomainTools’ top three strengths include:

  • Depth of delivery in domain, DNS, IP, and web
  • Strong threat and risk identification and analytics
  • Solid financial base

“Since we launched Iris in 2015, we’ve helped thousands of customers map criminal activity, assess threats, and prevent future attacks,” said Tim Chen, CEO of DomainTools. “We’re proud of our work thus far and feel extremely honored and validated to be recognized by David and EMA as a ‘Value Leader’ in digital threat management.”

DomainTools’ flagship offering is Iris, a proprietary threat intelligence and investigation platform that combines enterprise-grade domain and DNS-based intelligence with an intuitive web interface, helping security teams quickly and efficiently investigate potential cybercrime and cyberespionage. The report comes on the heels of DomainTools’ recent announcement of Iris’ new capabilities, which encourage users to collaborate with shared investigations. With Iris, security teams are able to leverage individual strengths and experience levels within the group in real-time in order to detect risks arising from fraudulent or otherwise unauthorized online activities involving DNS, domains, IP addresses, and websites.

“Given the current threat landscape, with a new attack technique or malware variant wreaking havoc every day, collaboration among security teams is needed more than ever,” said Tim Helming, director of product management at DomainTools. “This is why our team has been devoted to enhancing our platform to promote information sharing, and to ensure security teams are able to act efficiently when exploring online threats and malicious activity.”
